Stand II by Vito Bila; hand raised silver and copper

And now for some unabashed family promotion. The younger of the siblings work will soon be venturing off to other shores to promote his work through the initiatives of the Australia Council and JamFactory International Craft. His work has been very well received both in Australia and overseas with work currently in the collection of the Art Gallery of South Australia. To his list of exhibitions are shows in both Rome and Amsterdam with more in the planning.

Collect is the only International art fair in Europe that showcases the work of contemporary craft and design from around the world.

Artists on show at Collect in London this February include Vito Bila (of course), Sally Larsland, Kirsten Coelho and Scott Chaseling exposing them to new market opportunities.

More information about these organisations, images of work, articles and reviews can be found via the links at DesignHub.

Magnetic Jewellery

Magnetic Jewelry Kit

I have featured magnetic jewellery in a past post and thought what a great idea to have a piece that is held together by little more than a natural force of nature (well with a little help).  To my great surprise I came past this unusual item via Coolhunting. You can now purchase your own magnetic jewellery kit and make your own unique pieces.

It includes 125 powerful lead-free magnets in several shapes and sizes: large cylinders, small cylinders, cubes, and spheres. Link them in countless configurations; add personal items like coins, charms, and buttons.

The possibilities are endless and can be reconfigured to suit every occasion.

Welcome to the new year.

It has been a very busy time over the festive season and I thought it would be nice to start the year with this desirable piece by Marie Littlewood from Adelaide. Her work is represented at the All Hand Made Gallery in Sydney. Check the website to find their two locations.
