Curious about QRIO’s

You simply have to check out the latest Beck video hell yes featuring the Sony latest QRIO’s.

These robots are so fluid and keep to the rhythm so well that I can’t help but question how this is at all possible. Sony technology has obviously become incredibly well developed and advanced or these have been pre-programmed for the event. They do look truly amazing. I wonder if they can do the dishes and clean up around the house.

I have had the pleasure of performing with the first generation Aibo in the early days of Sony AI technology in a public arena (don’t ask questions), and this cute little fellow insisted on falling asleep at the least opportune moments (never work with animals or children). Where we had expected a building on learning experiences through positive reinforcement and repetition it seemed there was no real effect on learning. Perhaps we did not persevere like others
Eventually the little fellow had to be put to sleep (turned off and archived).

Never the less, Becks video is really impressive and the fluidity of the dance motions of the QRIO’s is uncanny. They are extremely humanoid. These guys would be quite something to see at the Robocup events and it appears by the year

2050, a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot soccer players shall win a soccer game, complying with the official FIFA rules, against the winner of the most recent World Cup of Human Soccer .”

Perhaps it will come sooner than we expect.
