Winter architecture?

Not only is this piece of architecture, not architecture in the true sense, but it is an expression of the good relations that are developing between the UK and Russia.

As part of the 2nd Annual Russian Winter Festival, the ice sculpture / architecture was unvieled on 11 January.

James Bidwell, Chief Executive of Visit London said:

“We’re delighted that visitors and Londoners will have the chance to experience this unique part of Russia’s cultural celebrations as we kick off the Russian Winter Festival in London. With over 200,000 Russians living in London and just as many visiting each year, this event symbolises London’s true cultural diversity and the economic benefit it brings.”

Russian ice sculptors have taken seven days to craft the St Basil’s Cathedral out of 12 tons of ice in Trafalgar Square London while an ice replica of Big Ben is on show in Moscow. The annual festival is now becoming an established winter event in London.
